Assessment 19/7/11 MCU

WWW

  • The presentation of your work is excellent. I really like the captions under each image and the screen grabs used to accompany the music videos. This level of attention to detail in presentation will get you higher marks.
  • You have reflected carefully on your role and you have shown that you have learned about the process of making a music video and how you can improve next time.
  • You have acted on the feedback Mrs Jarrett gave you last time which is excellent.

EBI
  • You should write what you have learned about Final cut and WWW/EBI of skills to go with the images of you using it. Also include some screengrabs and explain what you are doing.
  • You should make a post discussing your development from year 12 into year 13 and make it visual.

Due Thursday 21/7
  • You should embed the final edit of In the Sun
  • You should write, record and embed a director's commentary analysing In the Sun.

Fantastic work here Dan, but still a couple of bits missing. Make sure you catch up and make the improvements straight away. This is a great start to A2, well done!

3 WWW's and EBI's Of my roles in the group task

What Went Well:
  1. I filmed 4 shots and done them as accurate as possible and tried to not re shoot it.
  2. Drew and myself made sure all the props were ready and collected in time for the filming
  3. I participated in the hula hoop scene when walking round Elenya
  4. I also played a character where the lift was involved and even had to dance
Even Better If:
  1. I learnt the dance before hand so i didnt have to rush and learn it at the last minute
  2. Perhaps filmed a few more shots as this would help me in my own video
  3. We organised the props before the filming took place

My Role in the group remake of "in the sun"

In our group task of re-making the music video of "In the sun" i had a numerous amount of roles to do. Firstly I was included in the hula hoop dancing which was in the gym. This was a simple role but a well needed role as we needed a lot of people to dance around Elenya, the main character. Another one of my roles was filming a shot of when the group was dancing around elenya with the hoops above their head, This was an effective role as I needed to ensure the shot was correct and done first time. I also filmed the shot of Dan Purvey playing the guitar. I was also involved in an important shot using the fig rig where I had to climb to the the top of the apparatus and film the shot trying to impersonate a birds eye view but as we couldnt go straight above we improvised and shot and at an angle as best as we could.

Being involved in these type of roles has made me become more aware of how hard and how time consuming a music video can actually be. Every shot was filmed atleast 5 times and even at times it werent good enough. We all had to work hard and all complete our own roles in order for the filming to be successful. A lot of stuff was relied upon each person doing there role because if someone forgot to bring in a specific prop of piece of costume or didnt allocate a proper location for filming, then the whole film wouldnt of took place. I believe that i am now more aware of how hard it will be when organising my own film and understand that it needs a lot of planning and a lot of time.
