CD Cover Digipack
This is our CD Cover Digipack. Each panel has been designed and based on our genre Hip Hop. As you can see from this, each panel has thorough detail in it and has a meaning. The front cover consists of the album name and song writer, We decided to use a graffiti looking effect as this suits our genre. Our back panel consists of the artist placed in the centre of the picture with the normal daily rush behind him. The song names are located at the bottom instead of down the side, we believed this looked better as it didn't interrupt in the picture as much and gave more space for stuff to be in the picture. Every other panel inside is about the artist and a lot about him.

Costume Slideshow/Ideas
This is a slideshow on some possible costume ideas. As our video is hip hop we decided to use clothing which will match this genre. We made a list for males and a list for females and will again come together as a group and decide on a final costume for each member. We have added many ideas and more than one of every idea allowing us to have a wider variety of what to chose from and also allows people more of a chance to have these costume parts as its not too specific and quite casual wear.
Reply permission
These are the replys allowing us to continue our product. Thes first one is from Ministry Of Sounds allowing us to use the song by Wretch 32. These also asked us to send them a finished copy once we are done therefore feel quite proud and excited to persue with this video.
The second reply is from Southbank council allowing us to use the southbank walk as our location. It states that if we do want to us the centre than we need to get more persmission but to use the southbank walk is perfectly fine to use.

Track permission Email
Here is my email which i sent to Ministry Of Sounds asking to use Wretch 32 song Dont be afraid in our video. I stated that using the song will be for educational reasons only and not for money. Hopefully they will allow us to use this video and help us to continue with our video.
Track permission form
This letter is for the record company of the song we are using. We are asking for their permission to use the video and state that it is for educational purposes only. We also stated that we will not profit from this at all. We are hoping to get a reply soon, hopefully agreeing that it is okay to use this as this song is very important for our media work and without permission we wont be able to use it.
Email for location permission
This is our location permission letter. With this permission it allows us to film where we wanted to without being told not to. We contacted the council on which South Bank walk is owned by and am awaiting confirmation. We added that it will only be a small crew and very little equipment and shouldn't disrupt anyone or make any of the public feel uncomfortable.
Talent release form
This is our talent release form. We handed this out to the potential members who are casting in our film. This form agrees that the casting members are allowing us to use them in our film and accept that it may be shown to an audience and put up on YouTube. This is a good way to organise our film and cast without arguments or disruptions. We are now just waiting for the cast to get back to us with the signed form and then our filming can hopefully begin

Storyboard and Animatic
f
This is our animatic and storyboard. Our storyboard is very detailed and understandable. Jordan drew out the storyboard as he is a very good drawer and then we all shared and helped add detail to it. It was a very well organised group effort and will show through our final piece. We all helped do the animatic, myself taking the pictures, others uploading and editing it, and someone putting the music on it and finishing it off. I believe the animatic is a very close comparison on what our music video will be like and we are aiming to follow the storyboard as much as possible and hopefully have no problems

Image annotation
This person represents what we are trying to aim for in our video. Subtle but suitable clothing and accessories for a hip hop video. The chain, hat and watch represent everything hip hop stands for and is what we are trying to reinforce through our video. Using jewellry and dark coloured clothing will ensure our video keeps to the hip hop conventions.
This female reflects what we are trying to impose through our video. The female in our video hasnt got to have as many conventions as the male as it seems to always be the male who needs the power and material things and the female stereotypically always seems to be a materialistic thing to the male therefore the female can be casually dressed with little or no jewellry and items such as watches and hats probably wont be needed.

Jay-z is showing conventions of a hip hop artist. The glasses, chain and casual hip hop wear show his power and status. Although he hasnt got all of the conventions of a hip hop artist he shows it in a subtle way through his clothing and style
Lyric annotation
This is our lyric annotation. We read through the lyrics many times and all added and suggested what would look good within these lyrics. We came up with ideas were both characters were together singing and other effects like fire in the background. These all prove effective and are great ideas which will only be beneficial towards our video and allows us to experiment with different techniques and effects. We also came up on locations on where to film certain scenes and decided on lighting, gestures and props in each part.
Concepts
These are 2 sketches which Jordan drew out. They show both female and male characters, labelled and analysed. We decided on these outfits as it shows a hip-hop kind of culture with the correct and suitable dress sense.
For the female character we decided to dress her natural and and suitable for a hip hop video. We decided to dress her in a black jacket and jeans with a blue t-shirt. This is fairly simple but the concept of filming in London with a lot of lighting and different colours, we needed to keep her costume simple but fitting the part. As a lot of the filming will be when it is darker, having these colours will be suitable as the lighting will expose the costume more.
For the male costume we decided in the group to keep it simple yet showing the conventions of a hip hop genre therefore we decided to dress him in dark close, chinos or jeans to keep it casual, a t-shirt and a trench coat or jacket. Similarly to the female costume we tried to keep it casual and suitable without changing too much between them and again as the lighting plays a bit part, the colours will suit well, and having bright, bold colours will deter the hip hop conventions.

Our Chosen Song
This is our chosen song for our music video. We decided to use this video as it hasnt had a video mde for it yet and also the song fits very comfortably with the Hip Hop genre were doing. It is quite a normal paced song and believe wretch 32 is a good artist and has a lot of meaning in his videos. Our ideas and locations suit the video well and have a very positive attitude towards it. We believe that this task will go very well as it is a great song and goes well with our ideas.
Technical Tutorial- Final Cut
This is a video of me and a few others going through final cut and how to use it. By talking it through whilst doing it we understood more on how to use final cut and experienced editing in a different software rather that imovie. I felt that I learnt a fair bit through this and found out very useful ways to edit and incorporate music into a video. I think my knowledge of final cut has developed further and believe that when it comes to editing I will know what to do.

Roles
Me- My role in the group is cinematography and camera shots. I chose to do this role as I think that it will be challenging but also a vital role in a music video and i understand that cinematography is everything in a music video. To follow this role through and give my input to the group I must watch videos of our chosen genre and understand and analyse why shots are used and why angles and the type of shot are important.
Luke- Luke is in charge of location, this is an important role as the location within a video is very important and it must match with the video you are doing. As Luke lives further away from the rest of the group, he is more likely to see more different areas and locations than us therefore this role suits Luke nicely. He must look at videos within our genre and analyse locations and why they are so important within a video and make sure our location is perfect.
Alex- Alex is in charge of the editing. This is an important role as this job is done after the filming is done therefore he must analyse videos and understand why and when editing is important. He must know what bits are important and which parts can be cut out or changed. This is a very challenging role as it is the editing which finishes of the video and the editing must work with the rest of the roles to ensure a good video which people will want to see.
Jordan- Jordan is in charge of mise-en-scene, Like the other roles this is vitally important and must fit the genre which we do. Jordan, not knowing much about HipHop must do some serious research on props, costumes, lighting and much more in order for our video to look like a Hip Hop video, he must analyse videos from our genre and understand what props and outfits are used and why and bring them into our planning to ensure we all look the part in the film.

Initial Ideas
This is a little spider diagram made on Bubbl showing our initial ideas. As you can see I have colour coded each persons roles and ideas and opinions. I feel that we all contributed well as a group and easily came up with roles for each person. Our main focus is on Hip Hop artists and are choosing between 3 artists. Chipmunk, Ms Dynamite and RizzleKicks. Chipmunk has a new album released therefore we feel that a lot of the songs will not yet have videos and also Chipmunk is a very well known and upcoming artist. Ms Dynamite is another artist as we would like to experiment doing and artist which would be more challenging as we are all males, therefore Jordan is in charge of finding a willing female to play that role if we decide to do Ms Dyamite. RizzleKicks, like Chipmunk are up and coming and feel that a lot of their music will not have videos therefore will be a good time to take advantage of this.
This is a short video of me and my group planning our initial ideas and roles. As you can see from the video we discuss artists and why, the roles of the group and how we will go about it. All our notes were jotted down on paper and all put our ideas together to get closer and closer to deciding the next step. The next step is to choose our artist and do some serious research on them and decide which song we should use, we then all stick to our roles, Cinematography (Me), Editing (Alex), Mise-en-scene (Jordan) and Location (Luke) and take the next step into planning the video.
Peer Assessment
Tre Gibbons assessed my blog and graded it accordingly.
- He gave me a 15/20 overall with is a high level 3 low level 4. Im happy with this grade as it shows that there is good work included however there is still room for improvement which can include using visual imagery more or adding a bit more detail and analysis. I had 5 areas where i was marked as a high level 3/4, these were the organisation, costumes and props of the group task, the shotlists, shot types and layouts, the level of care in my presentation and planning research . the use of digital technology and ict skills in presentation and also the excellent communication skills

Assessment 24/09/11 TME
WWW: Good analysis of the music magazine adverts (although you don't point out why the Rap/RnB artists use products to sell their brand - which is very interesting). You've spent some time on your blogs, and have an entry for almost all of them. However most of them need some improvement.
EBI: You are still missing several blog entries including most importantly your audience research. This needs to include an analysis of the results of your questionnaire.
- The Saturdays are not a RnB or HipHop group. You should find another album cover to analyse.
- In your analysis of the videos try to be much more specific. Phrases like "Many shots in this video are closeups or mid-long shots" because there is very little meaning in this sentence. Focus rather on the specific shot and explain how it creates meaning (you do do this to an extent in your analysis). You also need to include ALL the micro elements - not just Mise-en-scene and Cinematography.
-Include visual material to illustrate your theories entries.

Magazine Adverts 3
This is an advertisement for the energy drink Mounain Dew. The artist on the advertisement is Jay Electronica. The slogan "When I rhyme the whole world disappears" is perhaps promoting the drink saying that the drink, being an energy drink makes you feel invincible and in a world of your own. Also the caption at the bottom reading " Hip Hop is different on the mountain" is perhaps saying that when you drink this drink it changes the way you feel and what you do, almost saying that drinking this drink takes hip hop to a new level promoting the drink as well as the artist. Also at the bottom right it has a BB barcode which you can scan for more information about the drink and artist. Also the artists youtube channel is under the slogan, again promoting the artist and his music.
